About me
I love the craftmanship of old time toys. Often toys of the 1800s and early 1900s were made of wood, tin, and many were papier mache. The early papier mache easter rabbits , santas, and halloween pumpkins are just a few examples of this fine craft.
Some were candy containers, some were solid standing belsnickles ,some like the easter bunnys were pulling or pushing little carts. Most of the molds for these incredible toys were sadly lost to time.
During the last war , the molds were gathered all around europe and melted to make munitions . So many unbeleivable dresden ornamnet molds went that way. I saw an early papier mache cat head candy container once that had so much incredible detail It had a little collar with little brass buttons and it that had a brass hinge that someone could hide a little suprise like a few peices of candy , very expensive in the 1800s ,or even an engagement ring. I was told that the mold for this unbeleivable work of art was one that wound up being melted . A real loss to the art world.
One of my all time favorites is the old push and pull toy horse. made of everything from wood to tin. I am making this old time favorite in a sturdy papier mache and can even personalize one of your horse. I will be adding pictures of new creations often so please check back often .
This last year my mother and I worked together on a few papier mache dolls and other projects for competition
we did quite well for our first year and we hope for future sucesses
